Albemarle Sound, OBX

After our full day at the beach, where I was able to try out my new lens to (I think) pretty good effect, my parents had the idea to go over to the Albemarle Sound. They live on the sound side of the island, and very near them (less than 1 mile) is a nice pier where you can walk out to a gazebo and look out over the water.

Next to the pier they just built a small bulkhead/beach area, where you can walk right out into the very shallow sound. The bottom is pretty squishy, but the kids didn't seem to mind. We brought some pool toys, which were a BIG hit.

Carrying water is very serious business
I'm in love with his face here, and this photo in general!

This photo is probably my favorite one from the past few months. They were both so happy, the light is great, and I didn't have to do any post-editing. This is where I can see how the new lens really pays off - for beautiful portraits like this one!
I also have a few "scenic" photos that I took of the sunset; I've posted them HERE on the photography blog.
